Experimenting with pre-made ceramics
November 3, 2018This past few weeks we have been doing a bit of experimenting with re-glazing ceramic objects we’ve found at dollar stores and thrift stores. This is mosly the hus-monkey’s project and doing… but thrifting is fun so I’ve been helping choose items and will hopefully paint a few.
We’re trying things that are both just plain white and some stuff that has a design already on it. We’re curious to see if the design already there will burn off or not… and what exactly will happen to the old and new glaze. I think though if things just straight up don’t explode I’ll count this as a success!
The kiln ran last night and it’s cooling right now but soon I’ll have pictures of the finished pieces to post here.
Before Firing
this one will be interesting.. the city scape was already there… Nic has Godzilla’d it up a bit The browns on this one should completely burn off. It was food colouring to sketch out the design before painting this is one of Chewy’s pieces that didn’t turn out too great, so I’ve thrown another layer of glaze on this one these goofy lion faces are based off a medieval manuscript
